Celebrating
50 Years of Serving Our Communities

For 50 years, ASC has been a cornerstone of community support, providing essential services to individuals and families across southern Alberta. Founded in 1974 by parents advocating for inclusive opportunities for their children with disabilities, ASC has grown into a non-profit, charitable organization with a team of approximately 130 employees serving over 1,500 individuals each year. With a head office in Olds and satellite offices in Airdrie and Strathmore, ASC continues to expand its reach, ensuring that people of all ages have access to the support they need to thrive.
Guided by its deep-rooted commitment to community, ASC has evolved to meet changing needs—introducing 24-hour residential services, purpose-built homes, group-based respite programs, home visitation, parenting support, and senior services. Through close relationships with families and provincial partnerships, ASC tailors its services to be both meaningful and seamlessly integrated into everyday life. Represented by the enduring strength of a tree, ASC’s foundation is built on resilience, weathering challenges such as fires, government shifts, and even a global pandemic. Today, its leadership team, COMPASS, ensures a unified vision across all programs, continuing the legacy of growth, adaptability, and unwavering support.

ASC - Always Serving Community
At the heart of ASC is a strong, guiding framework—its Mission, Vision, and Principles (MVP). These core values reach every level of the organization, shaping the experiences of the people served, employees, and stakeholders alike. More than just words, they set a high standard, motivating and informing daily decisions, actions, and interactions. Staff are encouraged to grow, explore new opportunities, and continuously develop their skills in an environment rooted in support and collaboration. This culture of encouragement is what makes ASC unique—where listening, learning, and leading come together to create meaningful impact.
From direct support to behind-the-scenes roles, ASC’s principles serve as a compass for everyone involved. Employees check in with themselves, ensuring their work aligns with the mission of building capacity and fostering independence. Listening is at the core—truly hearing and understanding needs, learning from every experience, and creating space for growth. The commitment to respect extends to families, strengthening trust and fostering leadership within the community. Whether in frontline services or administrative roles, ASC’s dedication to excellence drives them to not only meet expectations but exceed them, evolving to serve emerging needs and ensuring their work remains a lifelong journey of impact.
Donations and Fundraising
ASC relies on additional fundraising and donations to help offset costs not covered by contracts and funding, such as:
